As a child, my heart was always captivated by the unknown flowers and herbs along the field edges. Those delicate bursts of life were the softest ties of my childhood. After reaching womanhood, I became enamored with the vibrant beauty of roses and the delicate charm of peonies. I allowed the vibrant colors to fill my youthful eyes. Now, as I approach middle age, my gaze quietly moves beyond the abundant flowers, and I find solace in the scenes that hold the essence of the passing years – new leaves adorned with dew in spring, lush leaves filtering the wind in summer, frost-kissed leaves burning with tranquility in autumn. I also cherish the purity of the clear lotus in the pond, the resilience of the green bamboo on the slopes, and the vigor of the reeds scattered across the fields. In simplicity, I find strength and peace.</p> <p class="ql-block">白露為霜時(shí),濕地灘涂間的蘆葦便成了天地間最雅致的筆觸。細(xì)長(zhǎng)的葉片綴著凝露,隨風(fēng)輕擺如素衣舞者,蘆花漫卷似雪,鋪就出“蒹葭蒼蒼”的古典意境。蘆葦起源于中生代晚期,距今約6500萬(wàn)年,是地球古老的濕地植物之一。循著濕地脈絡(luò)遍布全球,從三江平原的沼澤到江南水鄉(xiāng)的河岸,從濱海鹽堿地到內(nèi)陸綠洲,以三種生態(tài)型的堅(jiān)韌姿態(tài),扎根淺灘、抵御風(fēng)雨,見證了人類文明的流轉(zhuǎn)。</p> <p class="ql-block">When the White Dew is frosty, the reed between the wetland and the beach becomes the most elegant brushstroke between heaven and earth. The slender leaves dotted with dewy leaves swayed lightly with the wind like a plainclothes dancer, and the reeds rolled like snow, creating a classical landscape of "black fields." Phragmites communis (Trin.) Trin., one of the ancient wetland plants, originated in the late Mesozoic Era. Following the pulse of wetlands spread across the globe, from the swamps of the Three River Plain to the banks of the Jiangnan water towns, from coastal salt marshes to inland oases, with the tough posture of three ecological types, rooted in shoals and withstood the storms, witnessing the flow of human civilization.</p> <p class="ql-block">蘆葦,古稱蒹葭,亦名葦、蘆,莖稈中空挺直,最高可達(dá)3米有余,通體生20余節(jié),針狀線形的葉片嵌于節(jié)間,頂端漸尖如絲,大型圓錐花序分生出數(shù)枝小穗。因葉、葉鞘、莖稈及根狀莖均具通氣組織,蘆葦既能凈化污水,亦能調(diào)節(jié)局部氣候。遠(yuǎn)古先民早已識(shí)其妙用:取蘆根為食或煮水療疾,伐秸稈搭建簡(jiǎn)易居所,采莖葉編織席簾,其纖維更是冬衣保暖的良材、造紙的優(yōu)質(zhì)原料。</p> <p class="ql-block">Reed, also known as Jianjia in ancient times, is also referred to as Phragmites communis, Phragmites australis, or Phragmites australis var. australis. Its stem is hollow and straight, reaching heights of over 3 meters. It has more than 20 nodes throughout its body, with needle-like, thread-like leaves embedded between the nodes. At the top, the tips are sharply pointed like silk. Large cone-shaped inflorescences branch out into multiple small spikelets. Due to the presence of air-permeable tissues in its leaves, leaf sheaths, stems, and root-like stems, reed not only purifies wastewater but also regulates local climates. Ancient ancestors had long recognized its utility: using reed roots for food or boiling water for medicinal purposes, cutting stems to build simple shelters, harvesting stems and leaves to weave mats and screens, and its fibers being an excellent material for winter clothing and a high-quality raw material for paper production.</p> <p class="ql-block">古人對(duì)蘆葦?shù)溺姁?,早已融入?shī)行與風(fēng)骨?!对?shī)經(jīng)》以“蒹葭蒼蒼,白露為霜”起興,讓蘆葦成為追尋美好與悵惘的文化符號(hào);白居易筆下“楓葉荻花秋瑟瑟”,借蘆葦蕭瑟之姿烘托離別凄清。它不僅是編席造紙、護(hù)堤飼畜的實(shí)用之物,更以中空外柔的特質(zhì),喻指君子“外圓內(nèi)方”的氣節(jié);以遠(yuǎn)離塵囂的生長(zhǎng)習(xí)性,成為隱士避世的精神寄托;以渡口蘆花、蘆笛聲聲的景致,承載了古人綿延千年的鄉(xiāng)愁。</p> <p class="ql-block">The ancient people's love for reed has long been incorporated into poetry and windbones. "The Book of Songs" with "Jianjia gray, White Dew for frost," let reed become pursue beautiful and sad cultural symbols; Bai Jiu wrote "The autumn of the maple leaves and the autumn of reeds," which evoked a sad farewell with the silhouette of the reed. It is not only a practical object for making paper and guarding shelters for livestock, but also has the characteristic of being hollow and soft, which means that a gentleman's atmosphere is "outer round and inner." With the habit of growing away from the dust, he became a hermit's spiritual anchorage; The scenery of the ferry port with the sound of lotus flowers and reeds bears the ancient people's thousand-year-long nostalgia for the countryside.</p> <p class="ql-block">兒時(shí)的那片蘆葦塘,是我們笑聲的秘境,藏著整個(gè)童年的歡愉。我們一頭扎進(jìn)茂密的葦叢里捉迷藏,清脆的嬉鬧聲驚起一群群候鳥,撲棱著翅膀掠過水面。為了躲開四處找尋的伙伴,常常連滾帶爬地跌進(jìn)淺沼,渾身沾滿碎葦莖、干蘆花和星星點(diǎn)點(diǎn)的泥巴。可即便這樣,歸家時(shí)仍舊笑得眉眼彎彎,仿佛那滿身的狼狽,都是快樂的勛章。</p> <p class="ql-block">The reed pond from our childhood was a secret realm of laughter, hiding the joy of our entire childhood. We would dive headfirst into the dense reeds to play hide-and-seek, and the crisp sounds of our playful antics would startle flocks of migratory birds, as they flapped their wings and glided across the water. To avoid being caught by our searching companions, we would often tumble and crawl into shallow pools, covered in broken reed stems, dry sedge flowers, and patches of mud. Yet, even in that state of disarray, we would return home with beaming smiles, as if the mess we were in was a badge of happiness.</p> <p class="ql-block">少女時(shí)的蘆葦塘,悄然成了心事的秘密角落。在那人煙疏淡的深處,與少年并肩牽手,緩步而行。絮語(yǔ)輕噥間,臉頰便不由自主地飛滿緋紅,目光所及,看不見漫天飛舞的蘆花;耳畔之間,也聽不見候鳥的婉轉(zhuǎn)啼鳴——整個(gè)世界,仿佛都悄然隱去,唯余滿心的歡喜,與彼此映在眼中的身影。就這般沉醉著,流連著,直到暖金色的夕陽(yáng)溫柔地吻過葦梢,才戀戀不舍地踏著細(xì)長(zhǎng)的影子,相約而歸。</p> <p class="ql-block">The reed pond of my youth had quietly become a secret nook for my thoughts. In that secluded place, far from human habitation, I walked hand in hand with a young man. As we spoke softly, my cheeks involuntarily blushed. Beyond my sight, there was no trace of the floating reeds; in my ears, there was no sound of the migratory birds’ melodious calls. The entire world seemed to fade away, leaving only the joy in my heart and the images of each other reflected in my eyes. We remained in this state of enchantment and lingering, until the warm golden sunset gently kissed the tips of the reeds. With reluctance, we stepped into our slender shadows and made our way back together.</p> <p class="ql-block">如今鬢染霜華,我與老伴再度攜手,重訪這片魂?duì)繅?mèng)繞的葦塘。我們?nèi)韵衲贻p時(shí)那樣牽著手,閑話著家常,看蘆花勝雪、聽鳥語(yǔ)啾啾。掌心傳來(lái)的,是數(shù)十年如一日的溫?zé)?;心中滿溢的,是歲月釀就的沉靜甘醇。凝望這片生生不息的蘆葦,眼底不禁泛起對(duì)似水年華的溫柔輕嘆,與對(duì)它始終靜默佇立、見證時(shí)光的深深敬仰。</p> <p class="ql-block">Now, with my hair graying with age, I once again joined hands with my partner and revisited this soul-stirring reedbed. We still held hands as we did when we were young, chatting about everyday matters, admiring the snowy-white reeds and listening to the chirping of birds. The warmth emanating from my palm has remained constant over the decades; my heart is filled with the tranquil sweetness that has been cultivated by time. As I gazed upon these ever-renewing reeds, a tender sigh for the fleeting years filled my eyes, accompanied by deep reverence for their steadfast presence, standing witness to the passage of time.</p> <p class="ql-block">深秋日出,葦蕩鋪展成一首被霜色浸潤(rùn)的散文詩(shī)。天光將醒未醒,湖面仍籠著最后一層銀灰薄霧,蘆葦靜立水畔,褪盡春夏鮮妍,輕披一身素凈秋霜。忽然,第一縷晨光穿透曉靄,如一支鎏金的筆,輕輕劃過整片葦叢——?jiǎng)x那間,萬(wàn)千蘆花被點(diǎn)燃成柔金的火焰,在依舊清冽的空氣里,沉默地燃燒。它們不再翩躚,只微微側(cè)身,讓那光從一株流向另一株,從一叢漫向另一叢。</p> <p class="ql-block">On a crisp autumn morning, the reeds spread out like a prose poem bathed in frost. The sky is just on the verge of awakening, and the lake still cloaked in a thin layer of silvery mist. The reeds stand quietly by the water’s edge, having shed their vibrant colors of spring and summer, now adorned with a delicate coat of pure autumn frost. Suddenly, the first rays of sunlight pierce through the morning haze, akin to a golden pen, gently gliding across the entire expanse of the reeds. In an instant, countless clusters of reeds ignite into soft, golden flames. In the still, crisp air, they burn silently. They no longer flutter; instead, they slightly lean to one side, allowing the light to flow from one plant to another, from one cluster to another.</p> <p class="ql-block">昨夜的露珠仍綴在葦葉邊緣,此刻盡數(shù)化作細(xì)碎的小太陽(yáng),閃爍著、墜落著,在水面漾開層層金波。遠(yuǎn)處有早起的候鳥掠過長(zhǎng)空,翅尖亦沾著這晨光的溫柔。風(fēng)極輕,似怕驚擾這份莊嚴(yán)的美,只敢從葦稈間悄悄穿行,攜走幾縷飄散的蘆絮。這時(shí)的蘆葦蕩,不言語(yǔ),不招搖,靜靜佇立在深秋的晨光里,以一身清勁風(fēng)骨昭示:生命最美的姿態(tài),未必是鮮妍的青春,更可以是歷經(jīng)風(fēng)霜后,這片刻沉靜而輝煌的站立。</p> <p class="ql-block">The dewdrops from last night still clung to the edges of the reeds’ leaves. Now, they have all transformed into tiny suns, shimmering and falling, creating layers of golden waves on the water’s surface. In the distance, early migratory birds pass through the sky, their wingtips also touched by the tenderness of this morning light. The wind is extremely light, as if afraid of disturbing this solemn beauty, merely creeping through the reeds quietly, carrying away a few strands of scattered sedge. At this moment, the reed swamp remains silent and unassuming, standing quietly in the early autumn morning light, embodying the essence of life’s most beautiful form: it may not be the vibrant youth, but rather the serene and resplendent stance achieved after enduring the trials of life.</p> <p class="ql-block">深秋日落,葦蕩鋪展成一幅被時(shí)光浸透的油畫。夕陽(yáng)西斜,將最后一抹熱烈毫無(wú)保留地傾瀉在葦叢之上。暮色如釀好的醇酒,蘆花鍍上暖潤(rùn)的金銅色,在漸起的晚風(fēng)中輕搖曼舞。湖水沉靜如鏡,倒映著天邊絢爛的晚霞;挺拔的葦影垂入水中,拉成長(zhǎng)長(zhǎng)的墨痕,與真實(shí)景致交織成恍惚的夢(mèng)境。偶有倦鳥歸巢,翅影輕掠葦梢,驚起幾縷飛絮,在夕照里飄散如金粉。</p> <p class="ql-block">On a late autumn day, the reed marsh unfurls like a painting soaked by time. The setting sun slants westward, pouring its final burst of fervor unreservedly onto the reeds. The twilight is like fine wine, and the reeds are adorned with warm, golden hues. In the rising evening breeze, they sway gracefully. The lake remains tranquil like a mirror, reflecting the vibrant hues of the sunset in the sky; the upright silhouettes of the reeds droop into the water, creating long, dark lines that intertwine with the real scene, forming a dreamlike illusion. Occasionally, weary birds return to their nests, their wingbeats lightly brushing against the reeds, startling a few wisps of dust into the air, which drift away like gold powder in the fading light.</p> <p class="ql-block">此時(shí)此刻,葦蕩也像一幅被時(shí)光寫意的國(guó)畫。金輝如墨,從西天酣暢淋漓地潑灑而下,蘆葦攜著感恩之心,挽風(fēng)輕舞——舞給沉暮的夕陽(yáng),也舞給靜謐的沼澤。它以云絮般的蘆花為裳,清瘦的筋骨為骨,蒼勁的枝干為筆,將薄暮的靄氣、遠(yuǎn)處的炊煙、勞作歸人的淡影,盡數(shù)攏入一片絢爛而溫存的笑意里。又把野地的清寂、荒原的瘠土、沼澤間的秋意,凝練成詩(shī)人筆下那首澹遠(yuǎn)而蒼茫的山水詩(shī)。</p> <p class="ql-block">At this moment, the reed marsh resembles a beautifully rendered Chinese painting by time. Golden light flows like ink, pouring down from the western sky with exuberance. The reeds carry a sense of gratitude, swaying gently in the breeze – dancing for the setting sun, and also for the tranquil marsh. It wears the fluffy reeds like cloud-like garments, with slender bones and sturdy branches serving as its framework. It captures the twilight mist, distant smoke from cooking fires, and the faint silhouettes of returning laborers, all within a realm of vibrant and warm smiles. It also condenses the quietude of the wilderness, the barrenness of the plains, and the autumnal essence of the marsh into a serene and vast landscape poem penned by a poet.</p> <p class="ql-block">日出日落,如詩(shī)如畫。中午時(shí)分,葦塘靜臥。柔風(fēng)漫拂,卸去一身塵擾;暖陽(yáng)輕擁,催得眼眸微闔,恍惚間便墜入悠悠清夢(mèng)。夢(mèng)里忽逢春澤,一片新綠自水蕩中齊齊探首——嫩葦初綻,沐春雨而亭亭,逐春風(fēng)而婆娑,映春陽(yáng)而翠潤(rùn)如竹,浸春水而自在舒展,芊芊身影在蒼潤(rùn)湖光里縱情曼舞。它們以碧稈為骨,深扎淺灘,便這般原原本本,蓬蓬勃勃,將生機(jī)漾滿整方水域。</p> <p class="ql-block">The sunrise and sunset are as poetic and picturesque as a painting. At noon, the reed pond lies peacefully. Gentle breezes brush against it, washing away all worldly disturbances; the warm sunlight gently envelops it, causing the eyes to close slightly, and in an instant, one finds oneself lost in a tranquil dream. In this dream, one suddenly encounters spring showers. A patch of new green emerges from the water, with tender reeds first blooming, swaying in the spring rain, embracing the spring breeze, and shimmering with the warmth of the spring sun like bamboo. As they soak in the spring water, their slender forms freely stretch and dance joyfully amidst the lush lake reflections. A cluster of reeds was in full bloom. As the first light of dawn appeared, they gently swayed their emerald leaves and raised their slender waists, spinning a youthful waltz in the morning breeze. Summer migratory birds could not contain their excitement; they flapped their wings through the leaves, joining the reeds in this graceful dance. At noon, the scorching sun slanted down, and the slender reeds were about to droop and rest. Yet, the insects had already begun to sing loudly among the reeds, as if competing for the loudest sound of summer. As the moonlight began to rise on the treetops, the night gently descended, and the reeds began to hum a soothing lullaby. With their elongated leaves gently caressing the weary birds’ wings, they coaxed the entire marsh into a peaceful slumber.</p> <p class="ql-block">夢(mèng)魂又入冬境,葦塘沉沉睡去。寒風(fēng)掠水而過,葦稈不再起舞,唯靜靜佇立,如群沉思的詩(shī)人。蘆花褪盡素白,染作淺褐,卻仍在蒼白日光里輕搖微光。湖水瘦了輪廓,冰痕凝著清淺,夏日的鳥喧蟲鳴早已匿跡。唯有蘆葦堅(jiān)守于此,以蒼勁姿態(tài)守護(hù)著整片寂靜——將身軀托付給寒冬,把根系深扎進(jìn)凍土。偶有落雪輕覆肩頭,它們便微微垂首,在茫茫皓白中,醞釀一個(gè)關(guān)于春天的安恬之夢(mèng)。</p> <p class="ql-block">Once again, my spirit finds itself in the winter landscape. The reed pond lies in a state of deep slumber. The cold wind brushes past the water, and the reed stalks no longer sway; they stand quietly, like a group of contemplative poets. The sedge flowers have lost their pristine whiteness, now tinted with a light brown hue, yet they still gently sway in the pale sunlight. The lake’s outline has thinned, and the ice marks are frozen in their shallow state. The chirping of summer birds and the buzzing of insects have long since ceased. Only the reeds remain, steadfastly guarding the entire expanse of silence with their robust forms – entrusting their bodies to the cold winter and embedding their roots deep into the frozen soil. Occasionally, a light snowfall covers their shoulders, causing them to gently bow their heads. In the vast expanse of white, they brew a tranquil dream of spring.</p> <p class="ql-block">風(fēng)攜水汽與草木的枯香漸涼,蘆葦相偎相依,沙沙絮語(yǔ)間,似在合唱一首古老的挽歌。當(dāng)最后一抹余暉隱沒天際,葦塘便沉入了深紫色的暮靄之中。它們依舊靜立,若守護(hù)著土地的秘語(yǔ),又似在積蓄力量,靜待下一個(gè)春天的邀約。此刻的蘆葦蕩,美得沉靜而坦然——不避凋零,不拒黑暗,只在日漸清寒的風(fēng)里,舒展著生命最本真的姿態(tài)。</p> <p class="ql-block">The wind carries the scent of moisture, plants, and decaying vegetation, gradually cooling down. The reeds cling together, whispering softly as if singing a ancient lament. As the last rays of sunlight fade into the sky, the reedbed sinks into the deep purple twilight. They remain still, as if guarding the secrets of the land, or gathering strength in anticipation of the next spring’s invitation. The reedbed at this moment is beautiful in its calm and serene state – unafraid of decay or darkness. It simply unfurls its most authentic form amidst the increasingly cold wind.</p> <p class="ql-block">一簾葦夢(mèng),流轉(zhuǎn)四季。春之萌新,夏之絢爛,秋之沉靜,冬之堅(jiān)守,皆是生命最本真的姿態(tài)。它們于時(shí)光中榮枯,于風(fēng)雨里從容,不戀繁花,不懼荒蕪,以根系深扎土地,以枝葉擁抱天地。這方葦塘,恰如人生的隱喻——唯有坦然接納歲月的饋贈(zèng)與考驗(yàn),方能在輪回中沉淀力量,在平凡里綻放永恒的詩(shī)意。每一次枯槁都是蓄力,每一季新生都是回響,正如我們?cè)跉q月里跋涉,于傳承中生長(zhǎng),終能活成自己喜歡的模樣。</p> <p class="ql-block">A curtain of reed dreams flows through the seasons. The newness of spring, the splendor of summer, the tranquility of autumn, and the steadfastness of winter are all the most authentic expressions of life. They flourish and decline with the passage of time, remain calm in the face of storms and wind, do not cling to vibrant blooms, and do not fear desolation. They firmly anchor themselves in the earth with their roots and embrace the heavens and the earth with their branches. This reed pond serves as a metaphor for life: only by accepting the gifts and trials of time with equanimity can one accumulate strength within the cycle of reincarnation and bloom with eternal poetry in the mundane. Every period of decline is a period of accumulation, and every season of renewal is a echo. Just as we traverse through the years, grow through inheritance, we ultimately come to embody the image we desire.</p> <p class="ql-block">恍惚間忽有所悟,這份偏愛原是從血脈里流淌而來(lái)的回響。曾曾外祖父田祈原的手札間,墨跡如昨:“商海浮沉,當(dāng)如蒲葦韌如絲,守拙求真”。原來(lái)令我此生傾心的葦,并非偶然——它們是先人沉淀在歲月里的人生箴言,這葦?shù)捻g,早化作不言的訓(xùn)誡,渡我穿過世間浮華。這大概便是家族贈(zèng)予我最深沉的禮物:不必絢爛,不必爭(zhēng)高,只要在屬于自己的泥土里,長(zhǎng)成自己的樣子。于是,風(fēng)雨有岸,歲月有根,我便有了世間最安穩(wěn)的歸處。</p> <p class="ql-block">In a moment of sudden insight, I realized that this preference originated from a resonant echo within my very bloodline. In the handwritten notes of my great-great-grandfather Tian Qi Yuan, the ink strokes seemed as fresh as yesterday: “In the vicissitudes of the commercial world, one must be as resilient as reeds, maintaining simplicity and seeking truth.” It turns out that the reeds that have captivated me throughout my life were not mere coincidences – they were the timeless life teachings of our ancestors, whose resilience had long transformed into silent admonitions that guided me through the superficialities of the world. This, perhaps, is the most profound gift bestowed upon me by my family: the freedom to grow into one’s own unique form, without the need for grandeur or competition, simply by nurturing oneself within one’s own chosen soil.
